Brad Arnold, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated rock band 3 Doors Down, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Arnold made the announcement to fans in a video shared on Instagram and YouTube.
“Got some not-so-good news for you today,” he said.
Arnold, 46, shared that he had gone to the hospital after feeling sick a few weeks ago.
The diagnosis: clear cell renal cell carcinoma that had metastasized from his kidneys to his lung.
“That’s stage 4 and that’s not real good,” he said. “But, you know what, we serve a mighty God and he can overcome anything, so I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all, but it is gonna force us to cancel our tour this summer and we’re sorry for that and I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get.”
“Maybe it’s time for me to go listen to ‘Not My Time’ a little bit,” Arnold said, referring to the band’s 2008 single “It’s Not My Time.”
“It’s not my time, I’m not going,” Arnold sings in the song. “There’s a fear in me, it’s not showing. This could be the end of me and everything I know, ooh, but I won’t go.”

This summer, 3 Doors Down was scheduled to perform as part of Creed’s Summer of ’99 tour, which is set for Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden July 12.
Arnold rose to fame singing 3 Doors Down’s hit single “Kryptonite,” released in 2000.
The song, from the band’s debut album “The Better Life,” charted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for the Grammy for best rock song. Arnold wrote the lyrics when he was 15.

Post-grunge band 3 Doors Down formed in Arnold’s hometown of Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1996 with Arnold as a founding member.
At first, he was both lead singer and drummer.
The group has released six albums, two reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — “Seventeen Days” (2005) and “3 Doors Down” (2008).
The band’s other hit songs include the Grammy-nominated “When I’m Gone” (2002), which charted at No. 4, and the rock ballad “Here Without You” (2003), which reached No. 5.
The most recent 3 Doors Down album, “Us and the Night,” was released in 2016.
